VISUAL ARTS :

Tring Visual Arts (TVA) is a group of professional working artists who meet regularly to provide one another with support and to encourage artistic progression.  As a group we are eager to nurture fresh innovative ideas and one of our main aims is to encourage the next generation of artists.  We are endorsed by the Tring Art Trust with the goal to promote art in the Tring area.  As a result TVA was created in 2007.

The members of TVA believe that the visual arts give an extra dimension to everyday life in our homes, offices, schools, streets and squares.  This could be in the form of ceramics, painting, sculpture, wood-turning, weaving or jewellery, there being no perceived gap between fine art and craft.

Gas Kimishima, our Japanese potter is particularly interested in students who would like to learn about 'Anagama and Raku kilns'.  This medieval way of firing has been handed down from master potters and kiln builders.  Only last year, Gas's locally built kiln attracted international potters from Japan, Germany and Belgium.   Seminars and demonstrations celebrated the firing of a wood-fired kiln.
Vanessa Maisey, one of our oil painters has already worked at Tring School as an artist in residence and is happy to do this again.

We are willing to visit local schools to develop creative collaborations between TVA members and art teachers or head teachers of primary/junior schools.  If you think your young students would benefit from watching and learning from an artist potter or painter at work please contact us through this website.
